Family Camping Trip

We had originally planned to camp in Yellowstone, but the only camp sites available when we tried to book it in March was at Fishing Bridge, and we really didn't want to stay there. So we found a site at the Pine Creek Campground, and we had a great time.

But boy did it start out like a bang. Vine and Jack had to go up the night before and stake out our spot with a tent. When they got home in the morning to pick us up, Jack threw up. I thought maybe he was getting the flu or something, but in the end we deiced it was food poisoning from the fish the boys caught and ate the night before. Phew. But the poor kid was sick the whole first day.

 Off we go!

The campsite

I had the idea to have the kids earn patches to help keep them busy and helpful on the trip. It was the best idea I have ever had! I googled them, printed them on card stock and them stapled them to their sashes as they earned them.

Day 1 was a success. Jack only threw up once, and no one else got sick. The dutch over dinner took forever, but what's new.

Our camper wasn't big enough for all of us. Well, only because James had to have the master all to himself so we could get some sleep.  Vince slept in the tent whole time, with a different kid each night. While I got to share a bunk with the other ones.

 Day 2

Everyone slept good the first night, yay!

We jumped in the car and drove Jackson where we took the boat ride across Jenny Lake to our trailhead.

The girls were such good hikers. Only a little whining. I didn't wear good enough shoes, so I did a little whining.

We hiked to inspiration point, and there were some tricky parts to the hike!

Up top I was a nervous wreck!! We don't look high up, but we were!

James was such a good buddy. He even fell asleep on the way down.

After Jenny Lake we drove over the Jackson Hole Ski Resort to ride the tram to the top.
I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

At the top.

 So far down!!!!

I seriously had each kid in a death grip. One wrong move and one the cliff they would go. It was the Grand Canyon nightmare all over again!

We ate a waffle at a little shack up top, and headed back to the tram. I couldn't wait to get out of there!

That night Grandma & Grandpa Byram came up with Brock and Paige's kids to visit and eat dinner.

I had planned on a little scavenger hunt for the kids and didn't have bags for the cousins, so they had to share.

James was so dirty, he was the only one who showered/bathed the whole trip.

That night Brooke slept in the text with daddy and Jack came into the camper. Jack got a bloody nose in the middle of the night and James was up almost the entire night whining. Rough night.

DAY 3

We got up and drove over to the Snow King Resort in Jackson.

Where we found this awesome park!

And then once the slides were open we took full advantage! There was hardly anyone there, and the lines were short. Too bad the prices were BIG!

The kids loved the slides,

 And the trampoline.

One our way home we passed by a Fish Hatchery. It was not as fun as we thought it would be. And it was stinky.

We were all pretty worn out on the way home.

Back at the campsite there was lots to do!
Like take lots of pictures of my boys!

I had play dough planed for this night, and it was a hit!

After we put James to bed we played cards. Ivy was hilarious! She didn't understand the rules and she couldn't keep her cards secret. We all died laughing.

The kids earned lots of patches throughout the week, it was such a cute idea and they loved it!

Overall we survived with James, and he was much better behaved than I thought he would be.
