Lake Powell

We left the kids in Utah and headed down to Lake Powell for some fun in the sun with our friends, even though it was mostly fun in the clouds and rain.
Besides the Suburban breaking down, a little rain, and the house boat getting lose in a storm, everything was perfect.

These boys can handle anything. This was taken right after the storm passed and they got the boat re-anchored.

And what would a vacation be without 4 crazy men/boys on a banana.
Vince & Chris also spent a lot of time lounging in the chilly water.

I tried wake boarding, again, and didn't get up, again. I did try the tube, and hated every minute of it! Thanks Becca for putting up with my whining.

Vince, on the other hand, loved the tube. I am shocked those boys survived. And of course Vince showed me up on the wake board and slalom ski.
It was a great vacation, and it was hard to come home. We were excited to see our little stinkers though!

The Parte`

Every year this little guy gets two birthday parties; one in Idaho and one in Utah. Lucky!

We had all the cousins over for cake, ice cream and a pinata. Vince nearly got a beating.

We gave Jack 3 Goldfish for his birthday. They lived 48 hours. Jack also got a scooter from his Grandma Jane. I could hardly pry him off it.

Then we traveled to Utah where Grandma Wheatley had way too much planned for this spoiled 3 year old. Check out that cake! I think there was 1 inch of cake, 6 inches of frosting. Gotta love Costco!
Jack had a great birthday and when I went to put him to bed that night he said,
"Mommy? Can I have a birthday tomorrow?"
Well said.

NEMO CAKE

I found a recipe for a birthday cake for Jack:
  • 1 Cake Mix
  • 1 Batch of Fondant
  • 4 Finding Nemo Figurines
Put these together for a great cake!

What it should have said was:

3 Bags Mini Marshmallows

1 Microwave to look like this
Powdered Sugar Everywhere

1 Crazy Lady

2 Loving Hands

1 Gigantic Mess

100+ Kitchen Utensils

And Viola! The Craziest Thing I Have Ever Done!
Jack's birthday isn't until tomorrow, but I thought I would share with everyone how absolutely crazy I am today. This is all we did today. And now, instead of cleaning up my kitchen, cooking dinner, folding laundry, getting packed for our trip or wrapping Jack's birthday presents, here I am checking my email and blogging. This is way more fun!

Mesa Falls

We had Stake Conference today, and since we got out at Noon, we decided to go for a little drive. We went back to the scene of the crime, where Vince proposed 5 years ago.

For those of you who have never been to Mesa Falls, it is Gorgeous! I love it there.
Vince proposed in February, so we had to cross country ski in to the falls, 4 miles of major hills. I think it would have been the worst date ever if he hadn't popped the question. The snow was so high, that it went to the top of rails. BTW I think this is the worst picture of me ever, but it shows the danger!
Yeah, there weren't any rails because we were on top of them. It was dark when we got there, so I had no idea what the falls looked like, or how far down it would be to my death! We went back a few months later, and I was shocked. We were sitting on the edge of a cliff, and I had no idea! See the top of the rail behind Vince! My mother was quite upset when she found out about this.

Here we are at the top of the falls

So Cute!

Jack found some furry friends

and he kept one eye on this bear the whole time.

Human Doodle

Sometimes I am not quite sure if I am cut out for this "Mom" thing.

I look away for one minute and...
My little Jack turned himself into a work of art.
I am afraid the words that came out of my mouth were just as artistic and colorful.

My dear little boy has always been a little bit quirky! You are just never sure what he is going to say, or what he has up his sleeve. My mother, and some other family members, attribute this to the fact that I make him drink watered down apple juice and I don't turn the sound on to the movie in the car. While they label it as "mean", I on the other hand label it as "character building".

You see, this is what happens when you turn the sound "on" to the movie. There is no sign of intelligent life anywhere. I prefer responsiveness.

So maybe Jack is a little silly, and a little quirky, but that is how we like him. I ask you, does this kid look deprived?

We ♥ You Jack!
